They take their name from the red fish that historically traveled up the Coquitlam River. Kwikwetlem means "Red Fish Up The River". Their elder's stories explain that they have always been there. Archaeology confirms continuous occupation of their traditional territory for at least 9,000 years, since the last ice age. | | | | | |
