The Slightly Inaccurate History of VanCoolver

In the year 1792, the British naval captain George Vancouver joined the Spanish expedition based at Nootka Sound on Vancouver Island's west coast and explored the Georgia Strait. He
named the region after himself, Vancouver.


The night was dark (much darker than the picture above), his ship was
old (much older than the ship above), and he was attacked by vicious beavers (not shown in the picture above). His crews, eager to please
the god of beavers, suggested to name the land "Beaverver" instead of "Vancouver". However, Captain Vancouver was a brave and stubborn man. With his pistol, he killed the beaver leader (a gigantic beaver with sharp pointed teeth) and thus the name of the land retained.
